Synergy for Justice is seeking a Child Justice Expert to develop practical, child-centred, trauma-informed and stigma-sensitive tool for justice and accountability actors as part of the Stigma in Justice Programme. The consultancy will complement the CARSV Stigma Toolkit for Justice by developing dedicated resources that help judges, prosecutors, investigators, lawyers, truth commissions and other accountability mechanisms engage safely, ethically and effectively with children affected by conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV).
The consultant will propose and develop a practical tool that addresses the stigma, myths, and misconceptions experienced by children affected by CRSV, including child survivors, children born of rape, children associated with armed groups and forces, and children who witness CRSV. Working closely with the Synergy team, the consultant will design an accessible resource that strengthen child-centred, trauma-informed and stigma-sensitive justice practices. The consultancy also includes consultations with practitioners and adults who were affected by CRSV as children, as well as presenting the final tool during an online webinar.
The consultancy is remote and spans 15 working days, with timelines to be agreed at the start of the assignment. Applicants should have at least 10 years of relevant experience in child rights and child protection, expertise in children affected by CRSV or sexual and gender-based violence, and strong experience developing practical guidance for justice and accountability actors.
Interested candidates should submit a CV, cover letter (including their expected daily rate and availability), and a relevant writing sample as a single PDF to [email protected] with the subject line "Child Justice Expert". Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until a suitable pool of candidates has been identified.
